Charles Green


Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Charles Green started his musical career at the Music High school. During his service in the army, he joined the US-Airforce Band to play the trumpet, after which he moved to Madrid, Spain to study at the conservatory with a mains in trumpet. Moving to The Netherlands in 1970 to continue his studies at the conservatory in Maastricht, he became lead-techer at the Sweelinck conservatory in Amsterdam. Teaching trumpet and ensembles, he started leading the conservatory’s big band. Besides teaching and performing Charles is also composing and arranging. Joining as a conductor and artistic director in 1990, Charles has brought the Studentproof bigband from a starting bigband to one performing at semi-professional levels.
